What is an industrial machine?

Classification of machines by possible material processing

Technical characteristics of industrial installations differ depending on the processed material. Machinery is mostly used for working with metal and wood. For wood, less powerful equipment can be used, but with more precise operation settings. For metal, high-quality tools and high power are required.

Classification by type of control

The level of automation in enterprises is gradually increasing, and machines with mechanical control are becoming less common. Machines can be divided by type of control:

  • manual;
  • semi-automatic;
  • automatic;
  • CNC – numerical control;
  • computerized.

The last methods of control provide high accuracy with minimal error. The operator inputs parameters before starting and does not need to constantly monitor the production process.
